ROTARY PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP

The Rotary Promise Scholarship program will support the vision of the Greater Louisville Project and the Greater Louisville Education Commitment, 55,000 Degrees, with Jefferson Community & Technical College. the University of Louisville and JCPS. By creating this scholarship fund, the Rotary Club will enable our city to make significant strides toward doubling the number of bachelor’s degrees and increasing the attainment of associate degrees, diplomas and certificates by 2020. Achieving these goals will move the community into the top tier among peer cities and enhance the quality of life for everyone.

The four high schools selected will be those with the lowest college attendance rates and a majority of low income families. Students at the selected schools who meet the prescribed criteria will be eligible for a Louisville Rotary Promise Scholarship. The scholarship is designed to motivate students to be academically successful.

Student eligibility:

  • 2.5 or higher GPA
  • Minimum 90 percent attendance record
  • No major disciplinary issues
  • Enrollment at Jefferson Community & Technical College immediately following high school
  • Successful, continued enrollment until completion of a credential or transfer into a baccalaureate program

Students must apply for financial aid. The Louisville Rotary Promise Scholarship covers tuition not covered by available Pell Grants and other aid.
Scholarships will be awarded to students for up to 60 credit hours toward an associate degree or technical certification at Jefferson Community & Technical College. Jefferson was selected as a partner because of its long experience working with “at-risk” students and its low tuition, which will allow the scholarship to help more students. Jefferson offers numerous career and transfer programs and has six convenient campus locations.

Students who complete their Associates degree at JCTCS may then apply to the University of Louisville, and if accepted, will receive $10,000 in assistance to pursue a Bachelor’s degree.
